Australian DEEZIL Runner

http://youtu.be/eA1BP0-d_TE

After this little run the engine was noted to feel stiff on the down stroke, so it was torn down to confirm the cause

Engine Disassembled after run on 1/3 part blend diesel fuel, note the aluminium sleeve force fitted over cylinder
Piston protruding from cylinder, note thick wall at wrist pin location
Crank shaft with noticeably bent web which caused binding on the down stroke
A quick fix temporary repair was accomplished by clamping one end of the web in a vice and straightening the bend with a pair of pliers.

1946 Italian MOVO D-2 Diesel

This old engine came with broken cooling fins so we had to make a replacement a new jacket.
Examples of other contemporary engines from Italy

The lovely replica engine below is called the Helium; probably because it is so light weight.

 Engine specifications:

The infamous DEEZILis a poorly manufactured copy of the little MOVO D-2.

This will be Peter's next major project; build a batch of 10 re manufactured DEEZILS from the box of bones shown below.

View below showing the top of the fuel tank.

There is also a very clever detail; an arrow embossed on the top of the needle valve. How many times would this detail be helpful in  our sessions with model engines?

Published on 27 Feb 2017 A other fantastic classic..The MOVO D 2 from Italy. All over europe was the compression ignition engine,so called diesel on a not to stop wave across the continent. In the USA was the spark ign. engine the first choice, but here in good old europe was, since the break throu from the Swiss DYNO,2cc the model diesel engine on first place to move a car, boat or airplane. I have also the Dezzil in my hand, and when make the clip, suddenly it came up to me,how much they are close to each other in design. Its only from outside some design things, but the concept is exact the same. We will never know, who design the Deezil, but I will be not a surprice..if a G.I after WW2 from Italy bring a MOVO home, and somebody make plans of copy it and make some very good money...|But thats a other story!. More lovely storys on Adrian Duncins website and the fantastic Modelenginenews.org.

Australian Taipan Tyro 1,9 Diesel

Another one saved from the rust bin by Master Engine Re builder Peter Valicek.

Samples of other Taipan engines in Peter's collection.
This sad looking specimen is what he is attempting to salvage and turn into a runner once more.
This is what it should look like.
A sample new engine complete with the box is pictured above.
Since the rebuild candidate is a Marine Engine we show what it would have looked like in the picture above.

The sad condition of the liner is pictures above.
Scratches and groves are clearly shown above.
 Before polishing liner condition.
After rework condition of liner shown above and below.

The finished produce complete with its new piston and counter piston shown above and below.

Mounted and ready for the tell tale test run.
Action shots of the resurrected little beast running above and below.
The finished product after its test run shown below.

Published on 5 May 2017 Again a warm welcome. Today we look at a Australian engine, I recently re-build for Ian. Many years ago he convert it for use in a model airplane. But when he try to run it,it wont fire up and if yes,it run very poor. I decide to give it a look, and what you see in the clip is what I had done. The Tyro runs very well after the rebuild, with fantastic combustion, practically no smoke. But I guess, its now a 2cc engine,as I had to remove a lot material to get the bore right. ;-D The Tyro have normal a bore of 13x14mm. The name Tyro is from a deadly Australian snake.Hence the snake sign on the box!. Its a plain bearing sports engine, but its power output is never less very good.As its a light unit, the power to weight ratio is very good. I hope you like the clip, and I found this Didgeridoo music very nice so ad it to this great vintage engine from Down under... Australia! Thanks for any comments and thumbs up,...if you like ,what I do.. That keeps me going .....like a huge prop ! ;-D
